Joined Saint Louis Dance Theatre in 2018
Jessie Yero moved to St. Louis in 2017 to join Saint Louis Dance Theatre's Convergence Trainee Program before becoming a company member in 2018. Jessie began her training at Salt Creek Ballet under Zhanna Dobrovskaya and Sergey Kozadayev before earning a BA in Dance Pedagogy with Departmental Honors from Butler University in 2017, where she received the Dance Spirit Award from the Dean of Jordan College of the Arts.
With Butler Ballet, she performed corps, soloist, and principal roles in Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Cinderella, and The Nutcracker, as well as original works by Stephan Laurent, Susan McGuire, Cynthia Pratt, and David Ingram. She performed Ingram's KAPNOS at the 2016 Governor's Arts Awards in Indianapolis and served as choreographic assistant for Pratt's Streamlines, a National Science Foundation-funded project about Indianapolis waterways.
Since joining Saint Louis Dance Theatre, Jessie has performed works by Shannon Alvis, Kirven Douthit-Boyd, Norbert De La Cruz, Elizabeth Corbett, Thang Dao, Joshua Manculich, Dexandro Montalvo, Joshua L. Peugh, and Marcus Jarrell Willis. She has collaborated with St. Louis Shakespeare Festival, The Black Rep Theater of St. Louis, and Jazz St. Louis. Jessie also serves as Assistant Director and Ballet Teacher for the Competition Team at RJs Dance Studio in Ellisville, Missouri. Jessie deeply enjoys passing on her love of dance to the next generation and cultivating young artists.
