Saint Louis Dance Theatre Selected to Showcase the City’s Vibrant Arts Scene
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Jan. 15, 2025) -- Highlighting St. Louis's strength as an arts destination, Saint Louis Dance Theatre (STLDT) and company dancer Lily Cong have been selected as the cover feature for St. Louis's 2025 Official Visitors Guide, published by Explore St. Louis. This recognition arrives as STLDT debuts its groundbreaking (RE)Imagine season, featuring world premieres alongside masterworks from the contemporary canon.
"Our mission is to bring innovative contemporary work to St. Louis while ensuring diverse voices and perspectives are centered in our storytelling," said Kirven Douthit-Boyd, STLDT's artistic director. "When there is more representation in the room, more art is possible. Our audiences witness the brilliance that emerges when different voices and experiences converge on stage."
The 2024-25 (RE)Imagine season demonstrates STLDT's artistic range. (RE)Build, running February 27-March 2, features contemporary works by acclaimed choreographers Jamar Roberts, Tommie-Waheed Evans, and Jessica Lang, alongside masterworks by Jiří Kylián and José Limón, bridging dance legacy with today's most compelling voices.
"St. Louis has been home to explorers and innovators since its birth as the Gateway to the West," said Erin Prange, executive director. "The vibrancy of our dance scene continues this pioneering spirit, proving that our city remains a place where artists can create bold, meaningful work that resonates nationally."
STLDT's season continues with Tour de Dance, an immersive performance experience through St. Louis's Grand Center Arts District (March 27), and concludes with (RE)Fine (May 29-June 1), featuring a world premiere by Norbert De La Cruz III.
STLDT has expanded its repertoire while deepening community engagement. The company recently received the largest ARPA for the Arts grant ($600,000) from the Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis, supporting its mission to create inclusive, world-class dance experiences.
